Men's Basketball Falls in Hilbert Tournament Finale

Box Score Hamburg, NY (11/16/13)- The Utica College men's basketball team fell in the championship of the Hilbert College Tip-off Tournament 88-80 to host Hilbert College Saturday afternoon. 

The Hawks led 43-25 at the half, but the Pioneers fought back, outscoring Hilbert 55-45 in the final 20 minutes of the game.  However, it was not enough, as Utica dropped its first game of the season. 

Junior Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) led the way for the Pioneers with 26 points, including 11-of-16 from the line.  Senior Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) had a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds and Marion Lewis (Bronx, NY/Lehman) had 12 points on the day.  Marty Felicia (Phoenix, NY/Phoenix) added ten points and seven boards in his second career start.  Robert Tutein (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet), Kendall Brown (Queens, NY/Benjamin Cardozo), Griffin Kelly (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet), Pape Konteye, Agim Hamiti (Prishtina, Kosovo/Syracuse Academy of Science), and Rich Smith (Albany, NY/La Salle Institute) also registered points on the day.

The Pioneers fall to 1-1 on the season.  They will look to rebound Friday as they take on Widener University in the opening game of the Hamilton Tournament.  Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
