Utica Looks to Keep Home Winning Streak Going Against Union Monday

Utica, NY (12/5/13) - The Utica College men's basketball team will host its second straight home game against non-conference opponent Union College Monday at 6 p.m.

Last Game: UC came out of Wednesday night's home game with a victory over non-conference opponent SUNY Canton, 103-86 … UC had four players in double figures with junior point guard Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) leading the team with 32 points … Junior forward Marion Lewis (Bronx, NY/Lehman) added 23 points and Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) chipped in with 13 points … Junior center Marty Felicia (Phoenix, NY/Phoenix) added 11 points … UC was a rebounding machine, with Jeffers (12 rebounds) and Felicia (14 rebounds) both finishing the game with a double-double.

Rebounding Beasts: Utica ranks second in the Empire 8 with an average of 46.2 rebounds per game … The Pioneers are also second in offensive rebounds with 15.7 per game … They rank first overall in the conference with 30.5 defensive rebounds per game … Utica is ranked 38th nationally (out of 409 Division III schools) and first in the conference in total rebounds.

In the National Spotlight: As far as players go, Jeffers is first in the conference with 12.7 rebounds per game, and is nationally ranked 11th out of 238 … Felicia ranks ninth in the conference with 7.3 rebounds per game.

Scoring Powerhouse: Utica is second in the Empire 8 in scoring with 85.3 points per game and first in field goal percentage, making 49% of its shots.

Scoring King: Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) ranks second in the conference in scoring with 21.8 points per game … He also ranks third in the conference in assists, averaging 4.5 per game.

Stats against Union: The Pioneers dropped a pair of games against Union last season … UC lost to the Dutchmen at the Hamilton College Thanksgiving Tournament at Scott Field House, 86-69, on November 25th … Two Pioneer players scored in double-figures… Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) and Connor Maisch each led with 14 points… Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) led the team in rebounds (10) … Utica also lost to Union on the road, 82-61, on December 7th of last season.
