Senior Ben Winkler needs two goals to become the third player in program-history to score 100 career goals
Utica, NY (3/29/2013) – The Utica College men's lacrosse team looks to snap a two game slide on Friday afternoon when it hosts Misericordia University in a non-conference competition at the friendly confines of Charles A. Gaetano Stadium (4 p.m.).

Winkler Watch: Senior attack
Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) recently surpassed Nate Jobson '05 for third place on the College's all-time scoring list… He now has 126 career points … He needs just two goals to become the third player in program-history to score 100 goals in a career … He currently has 98 goals and 28 assists … Winkler trails Matt Donaldson '05 and Michael Bulger '10 on the College's all-time goal scoring list … Donaldson posted a school-record 165 goals between 2002-05, and Bulger netted 123 goals between 2007-10.
Pioneers on the National Scene: The UC defense currently ranks second in the nation in Man-Down defense, preventing a goal in 91.4% of man-down situations this season … UC also ranks fourth nationally with an average of 16.4 caused turnovers per game … Freshman goalie
Trey Adams (Hogansburg, NY/Brewster Academy) ranks 32nd nationally with a goals against average of 6.92 … The Pioneers scoring defense ranks 11th nationally, allowing 5.6 goals per game …
Tom Byrne (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) ranks 11th nationally with 3.2 caused turnovers per game.
Schoen Giving Back: Junior
Joe Schoen (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) is currently tied for sixth all-time with 39 career assists … He needs just two assists to tie Pioneer Hall of Famer Ben Mack '01 for fifth place on the College's all-time list … Schoen currently leads the team with 11 assists through six games this season.
All-Time Against Misericordia: Utica has played the Cougars just once in program-history … The Pioneers defeated host Misericordia 14-5 back in March of 2009.
Pioneers Can Score: Utica enters Friday's game with a 3-3 overall record … The Pioneers have outscored their six opponents 70-42 to open the season … UC is averaging 11.67 goals per game.
Hot in the 3rd Quarter: UC has played particularly well in the third quarter this year, outscoring its opponents 22-7 in the third 15 minute stretch … The Pioneers have allowed the most goals in the fourth quarter, a stat they would like to improve upon Friday afternoon.
Edelstein Making the Most of His Senior Year: Senior attack
Justin Edelstein (Hartsdale, NY/Harvey School) is currently tied for second on the team with 15 points on 12 goals and three assists this season … He has started all six games for the Pioneers and he is tied for the team-lead with five man-up goals.
Baron Getting it Done: Junior attack
Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) is tied with Edelstein for second on the team with 15 points this season … He has featured a balanced attack so far, posting eight goals and seven assists to go along with two game-winning goals.
Two Headed Monster in Net: Two different goalies have both seen a considerable amount of action this season for UC …
Trey Adams (Hogansburg, NY/Brewster Academy) has started four games and holds a 6.92 goals against average to go along with 29 saves …
Andrew DiOrio (Greenlawn, NY/CW Post) has a 7.78 GAA and 36 saves.
