Leaders in the Box:  Only four Pioneers, including sophomore Vincent Burillo (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central ), senior Nick Dunbar (Granville, NY/Granville), junior Alec Choleva (Coventry, CT/East Catholic) and senior Chris Podlucky (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), have played in all 21 games this season … The four currently lead UC in average, slugging percentage, hits, total bases and at bats … All have 50+ at bats, over 20 total bases and a slugging percentage over .349% … Burillo is leading the way at the dish with a .286 average, a .375 slugging percentage to go along with 13 RBI … Dunbar has a team-best 17 hits, 22 bases and 65 at bats while second in average (.262) and RBI (eight) … Choleva is batting .258 with a .338 slugging percentage, 16 base knocks, seven runs scored, four RBI and three doubles while Podlucky is hitting .238 with a team-best 11 runs scored and is second in slugging (.349) … All stats based on a minimum 30 at bats.

Victories on the Hill:  UC's three wins came while junior Ronald Mannella (Albion, NY/Albion), senior Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) and freshman James Corcoran (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) were on the mound … Mannella is 1-1 this season with six appearances totaling eight innings and has tallied five strikeouts while allowing just four runs (two earned) on 10 hits … Jeffers, currently 1-4, is second on the team in innings pitched (26.1) and has a team-best 10 strikeouts … Corcoran recently picked up his first collegiate win against Keuka College in a game two, 9-7, win … He has five appearances this season where he totaled 5.2 innings of work while fanning three.

Scouting the Host Ducks: Stevens currently occupies an overall record of 18-16 including a 4-8 mark in the Empire 8 … The Ducks have won four of their last six including a 6-3 win on Tuesday, in 11 innings, to Banuch College in New York City … In E8 action, SIT split a pair of doubleheaders with St. John Fisher back in late March before being swept by No. 28 Ithaca College in early April … Most recently, Stevens split a four-game set with Houghton (4/12/13-4/13/13) winning the first and last game in shut out fashion  by scores off 3-0 and 4-0.

Empire 8 Standings: The nationally-ranked Ithaca Bombers (27-6, 5-1 E8) currently sit atop the conference standings in first while the St. John Fisher Cardinals (18-12, 5-5 E8) trail in second place with an even 5-5 mark … Stevens Institute of Technology (18-16, 2-6 E8) holds third place with Utica College (3-19, 0-4 E8) occupying the fourth and final spot … New addition Houghton College has to satisfy a waiting period before games can be counted in the conference … The Highlanders are  13-13 overall on the season.

Remaining on the Schedule: Following this weekend, UC is scheduled to play seven more games including three doubleheaders, all on the road, and one nine-inning game at home … Utica heads to SUNY-Canton on May 1st for a 2 p.m. set start before returning home for its final contest of the season against John Jay College of Criminal Justice (12 p.m.) … The Pioneers will then wrap up the season, on the road, with back-to-back doubleheaders against Fisher (5/5/13) and Oswego State (5/8/13).
