Utica, NY (4/26/13) – The Utica College men's lacrosse team prepares for its season-finale Saturday as it welcomes Empire 8 Conference rival St. John Fisher College to Charles A. Gaetano Stadium … Both teams are currently tied for third place in the conference play with a 3-3 ledger … The game will follow the Spring Fling Alumni Game set for 11 a.m.

UC in 2013: The Pioneers presently occupy an 8-6 overall mark while 3-3 in league action as they await the challenge of their destiny … Utica has lost three of its last four  including consecutive league matches against to Stevens (4/13/13) and Ithaca (4/17/13) .. However, it has won 5-of-8 dating back to late March.

Five Pioneers with 20+ Points: Five Pioneers presently have a 20+ points this season including senior Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC), freshman Trent Jacobs (Akwesasne/Brewster Academy), senior Justin Edelstein (Hartsdale, NY/Harvey School) and juniors Joe Schoen (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) … Winkler, who currently leads UC in all offensive categories, is fourth in the league in goals (37) and third in shots (151) … Jacobs has 33 points on 24 goals and nine assists and ranks 15th in scores in the conference … Schoen, Utica's set-up man, has a team-high 22 dishes, good enough for fourth in the E8 … Baron is fifth on the UC stat report with 20 points on an even 10 scores and 10 assists. 

Two-Headed Monster in Net: Freshman Trey Adams (Hogansburg, NY/Brewster Academy) and sophomore Andrew DiOrio (Greenlawn, NY/CW Post) have both seen a fair share of time in between the pipes this season and both are among all the top categories in the Empire 8 …Adams has recorded 440:39 minutes and a 4-3 record compared to DiOrio's 319:13 and a 2-3 ledger … Adams has tallied 75 saves to go along with a 8.17 goals allowed average and a .556 save percentage while DiOrio has stopped 63 shots for a save percentage of .558 and a goals allowed mark of 9.40 … Junior Corey Spisak registered the other win for UC as he has seen 83:41 in net over two games.

Taking a Close Look at Fisher: St. John Fisher currently holds a 10-5 overall mark on the season including a 3-3 mark with the Pioneers in conference play … The Cardinals three losses came at the hands of Stevens, Ithaca and Nazareth, same as Utica … Fisher has lost three of its last five including a recent 13-8 defeat to Naz.

Empire 8 Tourney Info: The semifinals will be held on Wednesday, May 1st with the finals to follow on Saturday, May 4th … The host institutions will be the top seeds which will be determined upon completion of the regular season.
