Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Utica, NY (4/28/13)- The Utica College softball team continued its dominance at home, this time sweeping Oswego State, 7-0 and 10-3, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Utica's Greenman Field.

Utica 7, Oswego 0- Game One Final
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead, 2-0 in the first and never looked back as they cruised to a 7-0 victory.  Bridgette Plummer (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) had the only home run of the game, with a solo shot to right in the fourth inning.  She was 2-for-4 in game one with two RBI.

Chelsea Monroe (Watertown, NY/General Brown), Courtney Fitzgerald (Albany, NY/Colonie Central). Mallory Ingalls (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany), Dominique Carcone (Frankfort, NY/New Hartford), and Taylor Ellis (Willet, NY/Greene) each had two hits, while Allie Jennings (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) and Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) also added hits.

Freshman Erica Colucci (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was lights out in the circle, allowing just one hit, striking out six, and giving up just one walk in a full seven innings pitched to move to 4-1 on the season. Meghan Matan (Latham, NY/Shaker) and Dominique Carcone (Frankfort, NY/New Hartford) each stole two bases on the day.  Carcone now has a team-best 13 steals, while Matan has eight.

Utica 10, Oswego 3- Game Two Final
Both teams came out strong in the second game, as it was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, as Bridgette Plummer (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) hit a hard ball that gave the shortstop trouble, and Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) was able to score.

The Lakers bounced back in the fourth as freshman Tori Tavato hit a two-run homer to left center. Then just two batters later, Oswego was able to add another run.  However, with a runner on third and no outs, the Pioneer defense stepped up to get the stop.

Utica evened the score in the bottom of the inning as Cassie Smith (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) brought home Mallory Ingalls (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany), and Alysa Russell (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) was able to make it home on a passed ball.  Utica went to work in the fifth, scoring seven more runs to seal the victory.

Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) was a perfect 3-for-3 and freshman Taylor Ellis (Willet, NY/Greene) was 2-for-3, while Plummer and Russell were each 2-for-4.  Freshman Cassie Smith (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) had two RBI and one hit, and Ingalls, Meghan Matan (Latham, NY/Shaker), and Chelsea Monroe (Watertown, NY/General Brown) each had a hit.

The Pioneers racked up seven stolen bases as Matan, Ingalls, Plummer, Russell, Ellis, Traglia, and Alex Deyo (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) each recorded one steal.

Freshman Abby Monroe (Watertown, NY/General Brown) struck out five and gave up just two earned runs for her 15th victory of the season.

The Pioneers are now 26-10 overall, including an impressive 19-1 mark at home this season.  UC has two more non-conference match ups this week, before hosting the Empire 8 Conference tournament this weekend.  UC will host Union College Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. before traveling across town to take on SUNYIT on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
