Utica 2, Hamilton 0 – Softball Game One Final

Utica freshman shortstop Alysa Russell (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) drilled a two-run home run with Mallory Ingalls (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) on base in the bottom of the fourth inning to account for both of the Pioneers runs in the 2-0 victory in game one.  Freshman pitcher Erica Colucci (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) struck out nine batters in the complete-game shutout for the Pioneers. Colucci, who did not allow a hit in the final two innings, improved her record to 3-1 on the year and it was the fifth home run of the season for Russell.  Nine strike outs for Colucci was just two shy of her career-best.

The Pioneers totaled seven hits in the game one victory. Matan went 3-for-3, while Chelsea Monroe (Watertown, NY/General Brown), Dominique Carcone (Frankfort, NY/New Hartford) and Ingalls each registered one hit a piece.

Russell, Carcone, and Courtney Fitzgerald (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) each went 2-for-3 while Bridgette Plummer (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) also added a hit.  Olivia Gozdz went 3-for-3 to lead the Continentals.
