UC Shut Down at Nearby Hamilton Courts

Clinton, NY (9-25-13) – The Utica College women's tennis team lost, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon to local rival Hamilton College, in non-conference play, at the Grey Tennis Courts.  Freshman Erin Burchill (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills) scored three points in two sets to lead the Pioneers.

Burchill lost 6-1 and 6-2 in singles play while also being defeated in doubles competition, 8-1, as she teamed up with senior Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor).  Zaloom and freshman Gabrielle Moreall both lost 6-0 and 6-1 in singles registering UC's only other points in heads-up action. Sophomore Doni Look (Bridgeport, NY/Chittenango) and freshman Anastasia FItpatrick lost in team play, 8-1.

The Pioneers return home for back-to-back matches beginning Wednesday, Oct. 2 when they welcome Oswego State for a 3 p.m. contest at the UC Tennis Courts.
