Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) also scored, and
Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had three assists.
NATIONAL ATTENTION: The Pioneers (7-1, 3-0 Empire 8) moved up to second in the "receiving votes' category in the latest NFHCA national poll, released Tuesday… Utica received 67 votes in this week's poll… The Pioneers are fourth nationally with 5.38 goals per game, and they rank seventh in the country in scoring margin, outscoring their opponents by four goals per game.
MACKEY LEADING THE COUNTRY: Senior
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) leads the country with 2.13 goals per game and she is also third nationally in points per game (4.50)… Mackey has a conference-best 17 goals and 36 points on the year and has collected 22 points in her last five games… In her career, she has racked up 65 goals and a program-best 155 career points.
STEELE-NORTON NAMED UC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Senior
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) was recently named the College's Female Athlete of the Week… Steele-Norton had a goal and one assist in the Pioneers' win over Houghton on Saturday… On the season, she is tied for third in the conference with seven goals and has collected 16 points… She has tallied at least one goal in all but one game this season.
CHASING THE RECORD: Junior
Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) recently tied the program record of 33 career wins… She needs to just one more win to pass Jenny Lounsbury '05 for most all-time… Casey is third in the conference with a 1.848 goals against average to go along with her .757 save percentage.
HELPING OUT: Senior
Chasity Eckert (Afton, NY/Afton Central) is tied with Steele-Norton for second on the team with 16 points (five goals, six assists)… Classmate
Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and junior
Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) each have 11 points… Stojkovski has four goals and three assists, while Dowling has a team-high seven assists.
SCOUTING HAMILTON: The Continentals are 5-2 overall (2-2 NESCAC) and recently had a four-game winning streak snapped as they fell to Wesleyan, 3-1… Sophomore Eva Rosencrans leads the team with 12 goals and 26 points on the year… Utica is 2-3 against Hamilton in the last five years, however, the Pioneers have won the last two meetings… Last season, UC defeated the Continentals 2-1 behind goals from
