Utica, NY (10/11/14)- The Utica College women's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked No. 25, Ithaca College, 4-0, in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 9-2 overall and they are now tied for first in the conference with a 4-1 record. Utica, meanwhile, drops to 4-7-1 (0-4 Empire 8).
The Bombers used two goals in each half to down Utica. Ithaca was led by leading scorer Kelsey King, who netted two goals on the day, while Lindsey Parkins and Jocelyn Ravesi each had one goal.
Ithaca outshot the Pioneers 21-4 on the day and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Elizabeth Feigum (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional),
Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross),
Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham), and
Taylor Giglio (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) each had one shot, while freshman
Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) made nine saves in her first career start in net.
The Pioneers will travel to Houghton, NY to take on the Houghton College Highlanders on Monday. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
