Utica, NY (October 11, 2014) – The Utica College women's tennis lost its final home match of the season, 7-2, Saturday to Empire 8 challenger Houghton College at the Utica College Tennis Courts.  Freshman Lu Lu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) led UC as she guided the Pioneers to their only two points of the day.

Zhang won her singles match by scores of 6-1 and 6-4 after partnering up with Gabriella Morreale (Utica, NY/T.R Proctor) in doubles play with an 8-2 victory.  She posted a team-high on the season with three wins in singles play and Utica's only victory in doubles competition.

The Pioneers will hit the road for their season-finale Saturday Oct. 18 as they head to Annandale-on-Hudson, NY to face Bard College.  The match is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Stevenson Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
