UTICA, N.Y. - The Utica College football team returns home on Saturday for the Coach to Cure MD Homecoming Football game as the Pioneers take on the nationally-ranked No. 16/19 St. John Fisher in Empire 8 Conference action. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium and it is a part of the College's Homecoming festivities.
COACH TO CURE MD GAME: For the seventh year in a row colleges across the nation have joined together to support the Coach to Cure MD program …The rapidly growing effort has raised more than one million dollars to fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy… At Saturday's game the Utica College coaching staff will be rolling up their sleeves to show off their "Coach to Cure MD" armbands…College football fans will be asked to donate to research projects supported by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the largest nonprofit organization in the U.S. focused entirely on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy…Fans can donate to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research by either going online to www.CoachtoCureMD.org or by texting the word CURE to 90999 (a $5 donation will automatically be added to your next phone bill and standard text message rates apply).
HONORARY CAPTAIN: This year Jonathan Piacentino will serve as the Pioneers honorary captain for the homecoming game… Jonathan was diagnosed with Duchenne MD in December of 1997, when he was four years old … Jonathan and his family will speak with the Pioneers after Friday night's practice and they will also be involved in the game time festivities … Jonathan will join the captains and officials for the pregame coin toss and he will also spend time on the sidelines throughout the game.Â
SAY HI TO THE CAMERA'S: Today's game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Sports in Albany (Channel 50 or 323), Buffalo (Channel 323), Rochester (Channel 52), Syracuse/Utica (Channel 19/323), and New York City … On the call for Time Warner will be Kevin Brown (Play-by-Play), Dale Drypolcher (Color Analyst) and Eric Gallanty (Sidelines) … The contest will also be replayed in all markets on Sunday (7 p.m.) and Wednesday (6 p.m.).

OH, SO CLOSE: Utica College jumped out to a 20-0 lead early in the second quarter at St. John Fisher College last season, but the Cardinals rallied back with four consecutive touchdowns in a span of 10:39 to take home the victory, 28-27…The one point loss is the closet margin of defeat in the 13-year history of the rivalry.

Connor Butkiewicz (Southington, CT/Southington) completed 26-of-39 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough for the Pioneers to secure the win over Salisbury…The Pioneers led 19-14 half way through the third quarter after Acevedo caught a 62-yard touchdown pass…Salisbury answered right away, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to take home the win, 36-19.
