DYNAMIC DUO: Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) are tied for 10th in the Empire 8 Conference with four goals apiece … Melley got things started early on in the season scoring three of her goals in the first three games … Fitzpatrick has been heating up by scoring three goals in the past four games … Both players are averaging a point per game.
DEFENSE IS KEY: Morgan Donovan (Farmingdale, NY/Half Hollow Hills East ) has started and played in all nine games this season … She's logged in 836 minutes on the field and she has only second on the team to Kelly Heimerle (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) by ten minutes … Donovan has been a key factor in all four victories for the Pioneers and played a critical role in a recent shutout against Clarkson University (9/5/14).
FRESHMAN FIREPOWER: Amanda Pawlikowski (Vernon, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) made her presence known early with a goal and an assist in the first two matches of the season … Pawlikowski's one goal was a game winner against Lycoming 2-1 (8/30/14) and her assist helped the Pioneers down Keuka 3-2 (8/31/14) … Pawlikowski has continued shooting and has tallied ten shots on the season with four them on goal … She has started and played in all nine games for the Pioneers.
LAST TIME AGAINST FISHER: The Pioneers lost to the Cardinals last year 3-2 (10/19/14) … UC got the ball rolling early with a goal from Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) in the 6th minute … Fisher's Alex Rohloff scored back to back goals in the 47th and 50th minutes of the game to take the lead … The Cardinals added another goal in the 56th minute to secure the win … Current Pioneer players Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) linked up for a late goal but it proved to be too late.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS: St. John Fisher is 2-8 on the season (1-3 on the road) … While on the road the Cardinals have been outscored 3-6 and outshot 25-52 … The Cardinals have five players with at least one point on the season … Fisher's goalie has two shutouts on the season, both leading to 2-0 victories.
