th nationally and first in the Empire 8 with 525 combined kick return yards … His average of 126.7 all-purpose yards per game this season ranks third all-time at UC … … He needs 91 more kick return yards this season to break his own school-record for return yards in a single season.
OFF THE EDGE: Junior defensive end
Nick Woodman (Utica, NY/Proctor) needs one sack to move into sole possession of fourth place on the College's career sack list … His 5.5 sacks this season rank third in the Empire 8 and are tied for sixth all-time on the College's single season list … The school-record of 8.5 sacks in a single season was set back in 2010 and is shared by James Brain and current UC assistant coach

Jon Treen (Ilion, NY/Ilion) ranks second on the team with 52 tackles this season … He has recorded double-digit tackles in three of his last four outings … He also has two tackles for a loss.
WOODBURN NEEDS ONE MORE: Junior kicker
Thomas Woodburn (West Islip, NY/West Islip) needs just one more field goal to earn sole possession of the College's career field goals made record … He currently has 16 field goals in his career and is tied with 2009 graduate Casey McNulty for the school-record … Woodburn also ranks fourth all-time at UC in career scoring with 114 career points … Woodburn is the highest scoring kicker in program-history.Â
FIELD POSITION IS KEY: Senior punter
Dakota Peel (Alden, NY/Alden) ranks fifth nationally with an average of 42.8 yards per punt … If his current average yards per punt holds, he will break the school-record for average yards per punt in a single season … The record is currently held by assistant coach
Ben Atwood '08, who averaged 41.03 yards per punt in 2008 … Peel has pinned opponents inside the 20 yard line 11 times this season and he has five punts of 50+ yards … He has also forced six touchbacks … Peel needs just 81 more yards punting to become just the second player in school-history to punt for 5,000+ yards in a career.
FRESHMAN PHENOM: J'Von Evans ranks 15
th nationally and second in the Empire 8 with 495 combined kick return yards … Evans also ranks fourth nationally and first in the Empire 8 with an average of 21.2 yards per punt return … Evans also ranks second on the team with 289 yards rushing … He leads the team with six touchdowns (five rushing, one punt return).
TEAMWORK: As a team, the Pioneers rank second in the Empire 8, holding opponents on third down almost 70% of the time … UC also ranks 13
th nationally in sacks allowed per game (0.71).

Gregory Palmer (Richland, NY/APW) ranks second all-time at UC for average yards per catch in a single season (21.43 ypc) … He has seven catches for 150 yards and was recently named the College's Male Athlete of the Week after scoring the lone touchdown of the contest in the Pioneers' loss to St. John Fisher Saturday.
WEEK 6 RECAP: The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College football team defeated host Utica College 42-7 in Empire 8 Conference action on Homecoming at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium last Saturday … Fisher racked up 533 yards of total offense, including 338 yards on the ground, as the Cardinals improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play … The Pioneers have now dropped three in a row, after starting the season 4-0, as their record fell to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the E8 … Senior quarterback

LAST TIME AGAINST BUFFALO STATE: (10/26/2013) – The Buffalo State football team scored 20 unanswered points in a span of one minute and 25 seconds late in the game to come from behind and defeat host Utica College 34-19 in Empire 8 Conference action at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium last season ... The Pioneers led 19-14 with 11:42 to go in the fourth quarter, but two big touchdown passes from Buffalo State quarterback Casey Kacz and a fumble recovered for touchdown led to the 19 point victory for the Bengals … UC running back

LETS MEET THE BENGALS: At 5-1 overall, Buffalo State is off to is best start since 1999 … The Bengals are 3-1 in the Empire 8 and are tied atop the standings with just one loss … Senior running back Rich Pete, a Utica, NY native, is closing in on the Buffalo State record for career touchdowns of 40 held by Perez Dinkins … Pete has scored nine times this season, and now has 37 for his career … Pete ranks 16th in Division III, averaging 124.2 rushing-yards-per-game … He rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the first five games, and then just missed the century mark against Ithaca with 97 yards … Buffalo State ranks 15th in the nation, having forced 18 turnovers in its first six games this season, including 10 interceptions … Mitch Thomas and Sherman Nelson lead the Bengals with four interceptions each … Senior wide receiver Mike Doherty piled up 419 all-purpose yards (the most in a game in Division III this season), including nine receptions for 229 yards and two touchdowns in the season-opening win over Cortland … Doherty already holds the school's all-time record for career kick return yards with 2,053, and leads the Bengals this season with 562 receiving yards.
