UC Field Hockey Extends Win Streak to 13 Games

UTICA, NY – The Utica College field hockey team extended the nation's longest active winning streak to 13 games as the Pioneers cruised to a 3-0 victory over visiting RPI on Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.  Utica senior Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central), the nation's leading scorer, advanced her scoring streak to 13 games as she netted two goals for the Pioneers.

Utica improved to 15-1 overall headed into their final non-conference contest of the season on the road Wednesday when they take on Oneonta State. The stage is also set for a battle of undefeated Empire 8 teams, with hosting rights for the Empire 8 Conference Tournament on the line, when the Pioneers (7-0 in Empire 8 play) host St. John Fisher College (7-0) next Saturday in their regular season finale at 1 p.m.

Mackey got the Pioneers off to a quick start when she netted two goals in a span of 3:18 to give Utica a 2-0 advantage at the 16:20 marker against RPI.  Mackey now has 32 goals this season.

Senior Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) capped the scoring on the day with her 10th goal of the season in the 63rd minute to seal the victory for the Pioneers.

UC outshot RPI 25-8 on the afternoon and Pioneer freshman goalie Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) stopped four shots as she picked up her fifth win of the season. The shutout was the first of Whitehouse's collegiate career.

The Pioneers also earned a 7-5 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.

RPI goalie Hannah Clough made 12 saves in the loss for the Engineers.
