Three Second Half Scores Lift Fisher Over UC

Utica, NY (October 4, 2014) – The Utica College women's soccer team lost 4-1 Saturday on a rainy afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The Pioneers were led by Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's), who netted the lone score of the day for UC.

Utica has now dropped four straight and falls to 4-5-1 overall, including a winless mark of 0-3 in Empire 8 play.  The Pioneers return to action Tuesday when they head to The College at Brockport for a non-conference match set for 4 p.m.  Fisher moves its overall record to 3-8, while evening its conference record at 1-1, and returns to the field next Saturday at Alfred University (1 p.m.).

The Cardinals got on the board first as Jamie Alloco put home a cross from Allison Mooney, at 34:03 to give Fisher an early 1-0 edge. The score would remain 1-0 into halftime despite Fisher outshooting UC 10-1 and holding a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks in the first 45:00.

The Pioneers knotted up the contest in the second half as Berkowitz found the back of the net, at 62:19, from 35 yards out.  Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) tallied the assist on the play.

Fisher answered right back however, regaining the lead just over a minute later, at 63:26, as Alloco laced in her second score of the afternoon to take a 2-1 lead. The Cardinals would go on to score two more goals to cap the scoring and the victory. Nicolette Nigro registered her second season goal at 65:19 before Alloco completed her hat trick at 82:37.

UC goalie Kelly Heimerle (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) stopped nine shots, despite allowing four goals, while Fisher net minder Brooke Seavitt registered three saves in the win.
