Alfred, NY (October 4, 2014) – The Utica College women's tennis lost its tenth straight match Saturday to host and Empire 8 rival Alfred University at the William T. Brown Tennis Courts. The Pioneers were guided by freshman
Lu Lu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) who scored five points in singles play.
Zhang lost 6-2 and 6-3.in singles and partnered up with Gabriella Morrelae in doubles play tallying four points in the 8-4 loss. She leads the team this season with two victories in nine tries.
Utica falls to 0-10 overall including a 0-7 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. The Pioneers are right back on the courts Sunday as they head across town to Clinton, NY to face local foe Hamilton College. The match is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Grey Tennis Courts. Hamilton is currently 3-0 on the season.
Alfred moves its season mark to 6-5 overall including a 5-3 record in E8 play. The Saxons wrap up the regular season Sunday as they travel to Oswego State for a 12 p.m. match versus the Lakers at the Oswego Tennis Courts.
