Utica, NY (11/20/14)- The Utica College women's hockey team returns to the ice this weekend for a tough test as it faces ECAC West Conference rival, and nationally ranked No. 2 Elmira College. Utica will travel to Elmira on Saturday for a 3 p.m. face off, before both teams return to Utica on Sunday for a 3 p.m. tilt.
LAST TIME OUT: Utica is 2-0 on the season after sweeping William Smith College in league play on Nov. 8 and 9… UC defeated the Herons 2-0 on the road and 6-3 at "The Aud"… Junior
Mackenzie Roy (Clinton, NY/Clinton) led the Pioneers with three goals and one assist on the weekend… Senior
Kelsey Dowdall (Smiths Falls, ONT/Nepean) totaled three points (one goal, two assists), while junior
Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) netted two tallies… Senior
Samantha Pucci (Pearl River, NY/Connecticut Polar Bears) added a goal and an assist and freshman
Jennifer Arts (Lakeside, Ontario/London Devilettes) found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal… Sophomore
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) made 13 saves to pick up her first career shutout in just her second start.
FRESHMEN FITTING IN: Three freshmen have already aided the Pioneer offense in the young season…
Jennifer Arts (Lakeside, Ontario/London Devilettes) netted her first career goal in Utica's 6-3 win over William Smith… Classmate
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Team Detroit) added two assists over the two games, and
Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) also tallied a helper on the weekend.
LEADING THE WAY: Senior
Mackenzie Roy (Clinton, NY/Clinton) is tied for first in the nation with 1.50 goals per game… She is also tied for sixth nationally in points per game (2.00)… Roy has already matched her goal scoring output from a year ago as she tallied three goals and added two assists last season.
SHUTTING THE DOOR: Sophomore
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) recorded a shutout in just her second career start… She currently is tied for the national lead with a 1.00 save percentage and 0.0 goals against average… She has allowed just one goal in two career games played.
FAMILIAR FOE: Utica College assistant coach
Tanis Lamoureux is a 2014 graduate of Elmira College… While at Elmira, Lamoureux was a two-time captain, a Second Team All-American and a First Team ECAC West All-Conference selection… She recorded over 100 points for the Soaring Eagles and helped lead them to a National Championship in 2012-2013.
SCOUTING ELMIRA: The Soaring Eagles are 4-0 (2-0 ECAC West) on the year and they are currently ranked No. 2 in the latest USCHO.com national poll… They boast the country's top offense, averaging 6.75 goals per game so far this season… Elmira is led by seniors Ashley Ryan and Ashton Hogan who are first and second, respectively, in the nation in scoring… Ryan is averaging 3.0 points per game, while Hogan is averaging 2.5 points per game… Hogan is also tied with

AGAINST THE SOARING EAGLES: Utica is 1-11 against Elmira in the last 5 years… The last time UC defeated the Soaring Eagles was Feb. 26, 2011 when the Pioneers topped Elmira 2-1 in the first round of the ECAC West Tournament.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers return to action Saturday, Nov. 29 as they travel to Williamstown, MA for a match up against Williams College… Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
OSWEGO MAKE UP DATES SET: UC and Oswego have scheduled a make-up date for their recently postponed weekend series … Game one will be held on January 20th at 3 p.m. at Oswego ... Game two will take place on February 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
