Utica, NY (11/25/14) – The Utica College men's hockey team is gearing up for a five game home stand at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The Pioneers will take on Hamilton College Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. before turning right back around to face off against Connecticut College Saturday night at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers tied nationally ranked No. 2 Oswego State 4-4 in the first collegiate hockey game to ever be played in Syracuse University's Carrier Dome on Saturday … The Frozen Dome Classic set a new NCAA Division III hockey indoor attendance record of 7,047 fans … Stepping up to the big stage, Louie Educate (Chicago, IL/Aberdeen (NAHL)) netted two goals and his second goal, in the third period, knotted the game up at 4-4 … Peter LaFosse (Merrimack, NH/Kimball Union Academy) and Anthony McVeigh (Kemptville, Ontario/Carleton Place (CCHL)) both chipped in with a goal and Mike Taffe (Moose Lake, MN/Amarillo (NAHL)) had a huge night between the pipes with 26 saves … Utica outshot Oswego 36-30 and won 30 faceoff to Oswego's 26.

CLINTON YOUTH HOCKEY DAY: Friday is Clinton Youth Hockey Day at the Aud … The players from Clinton Youth hockey will participate in a scrimmage between the first and second periods. 

TOP NOTCH: Dalton Carter (Toledo, OH/Northern Cyclones (EHL)) continues to lead the Pioneers with 11 points on three goals and eight assists … Entering the Frozen Dome Classic, Carter had a six game point streak … His average of 1.57 points per game leads the nation amongst defensemen … That same mark ranks him seventh for all freshman at the Division III level … He leads the team with eight assists and a plus or minus rating of four.

TIME SHARE: The Pioneers are using a three-man platoon in goal … Mike Taffe (Moose Lake, MN/Amarillo (NAHL)), Dylan Wells (Nashville, TN/Bonnyville (AJHL)), and Cory Simic (Whitby, Ontario/Smith Falls (CCHL)) have all started at least two games this year … The trio have saved 169 shots this season … Mike Taffe (Moose Lake, MN/Amarillo (NAHL)) helped the Pioneers tie nationally ranked No. 2 Oswego State over the weekend.

SCOUTING HAMILTON COLLEGE: The Continentals are 1-1-1 on the season and are coming off a tie against nationally ranked No. 8 Trinity College … Hamilton has scored six goals while letting up four … Kenny Matheson and Truman Landowski have both scored two goals … Evan Buitenhuis has started two games in net and has a record of 1-0-1 … Buitenhuis has posted a shutout against Wesleyan College and has racked up 77 saves.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE CONTINENTALS: After using all of regulation and overtime the Pioneers and the Continentals ended up tying 4-4 last season (1/25/14) … Former Pioneer Ridge Garbutt (Toronto, Ontario/Brewster Academy (NH)) netted two goals and had an assist on the night; while current senior Louie Educate (Chicago, IL/Aberdeen (NAHL)) had two assists.
