UTICA, NY -- The Utica College men's basketball team opens up Empire 8 Conference play this weekend with back-to-back games at the friendly confines of the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium … UC will host St. John Fisher College on Friday evening for an 8 p.m. tip, before welcoming Ithaca on Saturday for a 4 p.m. start.

UC TAKES TWO AT FISHER TOURNEY: The Pioneers, now 4-5 overall, came back from a 24-day winter break and grabbed two convincing victories early in the week at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament hosted by St. John Fisher … Utica rolled to an 18 point win, 78-60, on Monday against Washington & Jefferson before routing the College at Old Westbury, 85-64, on Tuesday … Senior sharp shooter Conor Maisch (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman) led the Pioneers in both games with a combined 42 points, 10 boards and eight assists including an impressive 9-of-14 effort from behind the arc … Maisch totaled 15 points on 3-of-4 from downtown on Monday and came back with 27 points, shooting 6-of-10 from deep on Tuesday.

HISTORY UPDATE: Maisch currently has 120 three pointers and is tied for fifth all-time with James Patterson (2007-2011)  … He needs just 12 more to move into fourth place, solely … Senior Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) now needs just 12 points to crack 1,000 for his career ...  He recently moved into fourth place on the College's all-time assist list with his seven assist effort Tuesday night, and now has 327 for his career ... Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) is just the second player in school-history to compile over 700 career rebounds and continues to close the gap between himself and all-time leader Gordon Taylor's mark of 1,109 ...  Jeffers currently has 710 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS: St. John Fisher presently holds a 9-2 overall mark heading into conference action … The Cardinals are winners of seven straight and have handled opponents convincingly, winning by an average of 15 points per game over that span.

THE BOMBER REPORT:  Ithaca College is currently 2-6 overall on the season and has dropped three of its last four … The Bombers six losses have come by an average of 16 points … IC's two wins came at the hands of Farmingdale and Wells College … Ithaca is 0-3 on the road.

BACK ON THE HARDWOOD: Following this weekend's games, UC returns to the court Tuesday as it heads down to Hoboken, NJ for another Empire 8 battle versus Stevens Institute of Technology … Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at the Walker Gymnasium … The Ducks are currently 3-5 overall and will host Alfred and Houghton this coming weekend.
