Box Score Oneonta, NY (8/30/14)- The Utica College women's soccer team downed Lycoming College, 2-1, in its season-opener Saturday afternoon at the Erinn K Brozman Cup, hosted by Hartwick College. 
 
The Warriors jumped out to a quick lead as Katie Cox headed home a pass from Nour Hasan less than three minutes into the game.  The Pioneers responded in the 20th minute as sophomore Ciara McIlvenney (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) found the back of the net, off an assist from Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross).  Freshman Amanda Pawlikowski (Vernon, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from classmate Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) in the 63rd minute to give Utica its first lead of the game. 
 
Pawlikowski's tally proved to be the game-winner as junior Kelly Heimerle (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) made five saves in net for her first career win. 

The Pioneers return to action Sunday as they take on Keuka College.  Game time is set for 10 a.m.
