Utica Falls to Potsdam in Non-Conference Action

Box Score Utica, NY (9/13/14)- The Utica College women's soccer team had its season-opening unbeaten streak snapped Saturday afternoon as it fell to visiting SUNY Potsdam 2-0 at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
 
The Pioneers were held scoreless for the first time this season as the Bears walked away with a 2-0 victory.  Jess Sterns and Jaci Morr scored for Potsdam while Kaylen Van Wagner added an assist.  Bri Tibeau had four saves in the win, while goal keeper Kelley Heimerle also made four saves, despite allowing two goals.  Junior Krystine Alvear (Ossining, NY/Ossining) led Utica with two shots on goal.
 
The Pioneers (3-1-1) return to action Tuesday as they travel up Route-12 to take on cross-town rival, SUNYIT.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
