UC Heads to Rochester for Back-to-Back Empire 8 Battles

Utica, NY (September 19, 2014) – The Utica College women's tennis team heads to Rochester, NY this weekend for back-to-back Empire 8 matches against St. John Fisher and Nazareth College's.

The Pioneers will challenge St. John Fisher on Saturday at the Mendon Racquet Club in Pittsford, NY before heading across town on Sunday to face Nazareth College.  Both contests are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Pioneers in 2014

Utica is currently 0-5 overall on the season and in search of its first win of the 2014 campaign.  UC was blanked in both Empire 8 contests versus Stevens and Elmira. The Pioneers are coming off a recent 8-1 loss at home to non-conference rival The Sage Colleges. Sophomore Gabriella Morreale (Utica, NY/T.R Proctor) tallied UC's lone point of the afternoon.

Taking a Look at the Cardinals

Fisher is also winless with a 0-4 overall mark including an 0-3 mark in E8 play.  After losing to Brockport in the season-opener, the Cardinals have dropped three straight, all in conference, to Elmira, Stevens and Hartwick.  SJF recently lost, 6-3, to Hartwick on the road in Oneonta, NY.

Golden Flyers Scout Report

Naz currently holds a 1-4 overall mark this season including a 1-3 ledger in the Empire 8.  The Golden Flyers lost to Stevens, Geneseo and Ithaca at home and most recently to Alfred University, on the road, 5-4.  Nazareth downed Houghton College, 6-3, back on Sept. 9th for its lone win of 2014.

UC Back on the Courts

The Pioneers return home for back-to-back Empire 8 battles at the friendly confines of the UC Courts beginning Wednesday Sept. 24. UC welcome Hartwick on Wednesday followed by Ithaca On Saturday Sept. 27th.
