Utica, NY (September 20, 2014) - Five different players scored at least one goal on the day as the Utica College field hockey team cruised to an 8-0 victory over Elmira College in Empire 8 action Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.Ā Senior
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) led the team with three goals on the day.
Mackey netted all three of her goals in the first half to send the Pioneers into halftime with a three-goal cushion.Ā Mackey scored her first of the day at 8:55, assisted by classmate
Chasity Eckert (Afton, NY/Afton Central).Ā Eckert and Mackey connected again just four minutes later to give the Pioneers the insurance tally.Ā Mackey now has a conference-best 12 goals and 26 points through six games.Ā She also set a new school-record for game-winning goals in a career (16).Ā
The Pioneers improved to 5-1 overall and remained unbeaten at 2-0 in the Empire 8 headed into a key non-conference contest against nationally-ranked No. 3 Skidmore College on Sunday (2 p.m.).Ā Elmira is now 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the E8.Ā
UC dominated play all afternoon, outshooting the visitors 30-0, and the Pioneers added five second half goals to secure the E8 victory.Ā They also earned a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks opportunities.Ā Utica has not allowed a goal in its last 154 minutes of play and they have outscored their opponents 12-0 in the last two games.Ā

Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) earned the victory, playing 35 minutes total, and she now needs two more wins to tie the school-record of 33.
Chasity Eckert (Afton, NY/Afton Central) (one goal, two assists) and
Becki Vivacqua (Yorkville, NY/New York Mills Jr-Sr High) (two goals) each record four points on the afternoon, while senior
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) extended her goal scoring streak to six games and added one assist. Steele-Norton now has 141 career points in the blue and orange.

Tori Couture (Auburn, ME/Edward Little ) netted her first collegiate goal for the Pioneers, while senior
Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) added an assist of her own.Ā
The Pioneers are now 4-2 against Elmira in the last six seasons.
