Women's Soccer Travels to Hartwick in Search of First Conference Win

Utica, NY (9/24/14) – The Utica College women's soccer team remains on the road Wednesday night as it takes on Hartwick College in an Empire 8 Conference match up. The contest is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

­HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The Pioneers are 4-1 away from Gaetano this season … While on the road Utica has outscored opponents 9-7 and has collected one shutout … Junior Kelly Heimerle (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) has made 26 of her 48 saves on the road, while seniors Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) have both scored two goals on the road.

HEIMERLE HONORED BY E8: Junior golie Kelly Heimerle (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) was named the Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Monday ...  Heimerle totaled 19 saves in two games last week ... She made five stops in the Pioneers' 2-1 win over local rival, SUNYIT on Tuesday ... She followed that up with a career-high 14 saves against Stevens in the conference opener on Saturday ... On the season, she has a .828 save percentage to go along with a 1.35 goals against average. 
 
HEATING UP: Senior Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) has scored in back-to-back games for the first time this season … Fitzpatrick leads the team with 19 shots and is second on the squad with seven points … She has three goals on the season and is currently on pace to beat her mark of four goals last year.
 
STANDOUT SENIOR: Senior defender Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) is continuing her hot start to the season … She leads the team with goals (four) and points (eight) … Melley is tied for first in the Empire 8 Conference with three game winning goals … In 38 career games for the Pioneers she has six goals.

HERE TO ASSIST: Freshman midfielder Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) leads the Empire 8 Conference with four assists … To start the season Berkowitz tallied an assist in each of the first three games… Her fourth assist was on the game-winner against SUNY IT in the 81st minute … She is second on the team with 18 shots and has one goal on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Hartwick is 3-2-1 on the season and is undefeated at home with three wins … The Hawks have outscored opponents 12-3 and have collected one shutout so far on their home turf … Freshman Casey Boucher leads the team with four goals and nine points. 
 
LAST TIME AGAINST HARTWICK: The Pioneers lost to the Hawks 3-0 last year and were outshot 22-6 … Cami Cleaveland scored two goals to help secure the win for Hartwick.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers wrap up their four-game road trip on Wednesday as they take on local rival, Hamilton College… Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
