UTICA, NY (January 12, 2015) – The Utica College men's basketball team returns home this weekend for back-to-back games at the Clark Athletic Center … The Pioneers will host Houghton College (8 p.m.) on Friday night before welcoming Nazareth College (4 p.m.) on Saturday afternoon

HISTORY UPDATE: Senior Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) moved into ninth place on the College's All-Time scoring list with 1,051 career points … Nevins netted 34 points in two games this past weekend to jump Patrick Goodman (2006-10) who had 1,028 career points … He needs 26 points to climb into eighth place in career scoring  … Nevins is currently third on the College's All-Time assist list with 351 career dishes and needs 41 to move into second place ... Nevins recently became the 14^th player in program-history to join the 1,000 point club ... Senior Conor Maisch (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman) is currently fifth all-time in career three pointers made with 129 and needs three more to move into fourth place, solely.

NEVINS PUTTING IN SOME TIME: Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) currently leads the Empire 8 in minutes averaging 33.7 per game … Nevins is also second in the league in assists (4.6 a/g) and assist to turnover ratio (1.6 ratio).

SHARPSHOOTER REPORT: Conor Maisch (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman) presently leads the conference in 3-point shooting while second in scoring … Maisch is shooting .506% from downtown while averaging 3.5 per game, both leading the league … His 18.3 points per game rank him second behind Nazareth's Maurice Mills (21.1 avg/g).

TUTEIN EARNING HIS KEEP: Junior Robert Tutein (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) has made a name for himself this season ranking fifth in the Empire 8 Conference in 3-pointers per game (2.3 avg/g) while eighth in 3-point percentage (.395%) … Tutein also has nine blocks, good enough for an average of 0.6 per game and 12th place.

GETTING TO KNOW HOUGHTON: The Highlanders are currently tied in seventh place with UC in the Empire 8 standings with a 1-4 mark in league … Houghton holds an overall ledger of 5-8 after dropping five of its last eight contests while losing by an average of 13 points per defeat over that stretch … Last season, UC swept the season series versus HC winning by nine and 14 points.

THE GOLDEN FYLER REPORT: Nazareth currently holds an overall mark of 4-8 while winless in the E8 at 0-3 … Naz has lost three straight, all in conference, while dropping six of its last eight … The Golden Flyers downed UC both games last season by nine and 17 points.

E8 STANDINGS: St. John Fisher (12-2) remains perfect and controls first place with a 5-0 record while Hartwick (8-5) occupies second with a 3-1 record in league play … Three teams hold a 3-2 mark in the E8 are tied for third including Alfred (9-4), Elmira (5-7) and Stevens (6-7) … Ithaca (4-8) sits in sixth place at 1-2 while Houghton (5-8) and Utica (5-9) share a tie seventh at 1-4 … Nazareth (4-8) rounds of the conference standings with a winless mark of 0-3.

HARTWICK UP NEXT: Following this weekend, the Pioneers will hit the road for one game as they travel to Hartwick College on Tuesday for an Empire 8 match up against the Hawks … Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
