Utica, NY (1/20/15)- The Utica College women's basketball team looks to keep its momentum going as it travels to Oneonta, NY on Tuesday for an Empire 8 match up against Hartwick College.  Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off an Empire 8 sweep over visiting Houghton College, 65-45, and Nazareth College, 64-40, last weekend… Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) led the Pioneers with 13 points and added three steals in the win over Houghton, while Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) and Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) combined for 31 points against Naz.
 
HEATING UP: The Pioneers have won their last four games and sit in third place in the Empire 8 Conference standings with a 4-3 record… UC lost to league-leader Stevens and No. 2 Ithaca by just nine points combined, since then, the Pioneers have racked up four straight Empire 8 victories, outscoring their opponents 267-195 in that stretch. 
 
DOUBLING UP: Junior Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) and senior Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) are averaging over 10 points per game… Miceli leads the team and ranks eighth in the conference with 14 p/g… She is currently fourth all-time at UC with 113 career three-pointers and needs just 10 more to tie Alicia Taranto for third on the list… Stayer is averaging 10.8 points and is second on the squad with 6.3 rebounds per game… She has collected three double-doubles in her last six games.
 
FRESHMEN FITTING IN: First year players Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) and Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) have stood out recently… Mayo has started the last eight games and has netted 50 points in the last six contests…  Babb has totaled 37 points and 11 steals in the last three games while coming off the bench.
 
SCOUTING HARTWICK: The Hawks are 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the Empire 8… They are coming off losses to Elmira College (59-56) and Ithaca College (62-55) last weekend… Junior Taylor Vonasek leads the team with 13.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers welcome Elmira and Stevens to Utica for an Empire 8 set this weekend… UC faces Elmira on Friday night (6 p.m.) before taking on Stevens on Saturday (2 p.m.).
