ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team gave up four unanswered goals as it fell to host St. John Fisher College in Empire 8 Conference action Sunday.
Utica drops to 3-9-2 on the year and 1-4 in the conference. The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they host Houghton College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Freshman
Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season, unassisted, in the 25th minute to give Utica the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals responded just two minutes later as Nicolette Nigro netted her fifth tally of the season, followed by a tally by Makenzie Winslow in the 30th minute to give Fisher a one-goal ledger.
The Cardinals added a pair of goals in the second half to pick up their fifth win of the year and improve to 2-2 in the conference.
Kelly Heimerle (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) and
Kimberly Beattie (Levitton, NY/Division Ave) combined for seven saves in the loss, while Samantha O'Brien and Melissa McGowan totaled one save in net for Fisher.
