UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team gave up three unanswered goals as it fell to visiting Houghton College in Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday.
 
Utica drops to 3-10-2 overall and 1-5 in the conference. The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday as they host Bard College. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
 
Utica College had four shots on goal but was unable to capitalize on the opportunities. Houghton opened the scoring in the fourth minute as Jessica Beattie scored her first of two goals on the day, assisted by Abby Schmidt.  The Highlanders took a two-goal lead off the foot of Darlene Eckhardt as she redirected a nice feed from Jenny Zacchigna.  Houghton capped off the scoring in the 52nd minute as Beattie scored her second of the day to put the game out of reach. 
 
Junior Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) had 13 saves on the night which moves her into fifth place on the College's career saves list with 200 stops in her career. Shawna Sprout totaled a four-save shutout in the net for Houghton.
