LATHAM, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team lost its final match of the season Saturday, 8-1, to non-conference rival The Sage College's at the Tri City Tennis Center. Pioneer sophomore
Lu Lu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) led the way for UC as she won her singles match by scores of 6-4 and 6-0.
Utica wraps up the fall campaign with a 0-12 overall record and returns to action in the Fall of 2016.
Zhang, Utica's team leader in wins this season, won 14 games in the match including 12 in singles play and two in doubles competition. She teamed up with
Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) in doubles, however lost 8-2.
Rose battled in her singles match tallying 17 games before falling in three sets. (6-3, 5-7, 10-6).
Anastasia Fitzpatrick (Parksville, NY/Liberty) and
Shannon Filmore (Somerset, NJ/Franklin ) combined to win seven games for the Pioneers as the duo lost 8-1 in doubles. Filmore took four games in her singles match while Fitzpatrick won two.
The Gators conclude their season with a 3-11 overall record including a 1-6 mark in the Skyline Conference.
