HOBOKEN, NJ- The Utica College volleyball team dropped its Empire 8 Conference match up against host Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-0, Friday evening.
The Pioneers (2-16, 0-4 Empire 8) look to rebound Saturday as they take on Western Connecticut State and Marietta College at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively, as part of the Stevens Invitational.
The Ducks took the first set 25-12, the second and third sets by scores of 25-16. Freshman
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the Pioneers with seven kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Junior
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) added six kills of her own. Senior
Alexis Lyon (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) and freshman
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) combined for 15 digs, while senior
Lora Allen (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) chipped in on the offensive side with 18 kills.
Stevens improves to 9-8 overall and 3-0 in the Empire 8. The Ducks also face Western Connecticut and Marietta on Saturday.
