Utica, NY -- The Utica College women's tennis team lost to visiting Stevens Institute of Technology 9-0 in Empire 8 Conference action at the Utica College tennis courts on Sunday. The Pioneers fell to 0-9 overall on the year while Stevens improved to 7-2 overall. The Pioneers won 14 games in the loss led by Shannon Filmore (Somerset, NJ/Franklin ) who won a total of seven games.

Filmore won five games in the five spot for singles and teamed up with LuLu Zhang to win two more games in doubles play, unfortunately they lost 8-2.

Utica was swept in singles play and lost in doubles play 8-1(Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) and Ani Fitzpatrick vs Alexis Connor and Julia Guignard), 8-2 (LuLu Zhang and Shannon Filmore (Somerset, NJ/Franklin ) vs Victoria Piskarev and Jill Hawden), and 8-0 (Saji Da (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) and Ehsheena Lawrence (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) vs Jillian Morneau and Lily Bruenjes).

Utica returns to the courts on Saturday when they host Alfred University in conference play at 1 p.m.
