UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's tennis team finishes up a five game home stand this weekend with two Empire 8 Conference matchups … On Saturday the Pioneers take on Alfred University followed by Nazareth College on Sunday ... Both matches are set for 1 p.m. at the Utica College Tennis Courts.

Last Time Out: Utica played back-to-back Empire 8 matches this past weekend …On Saturday the team took on St. John Fisher and was defeated 8-1 … On Sunday the team hosted Stevens Institute of Technology and was downed 9-0.

Doing Well: Lu Lu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) won her singles match against St. John Fisher on Saturday … She has four singles wins and one doubles victory for the Pioneers on the season … Zhang has accounted for five of the six points that UC has posted this year.

Scouting Alfred University: The Saxons are 2-9 overall with a 1-5 Empire 8 record … Alfred is coming off of a 6-3 win over Oswego … The Saxons will take on Fredonia on Tuesday before heading to Utica College on Saturday … The Saxons are led by Rachel Cook and Emma Jackson who both have three wins and five losses and together have won four of eight doubles matches.  

Scouting Nazareth College: The Golden Flyers are 5-2 overall including a 5-1 mark in the Empire 8 … Nazareth is coming off of a 8-1 win over Houghton … The Golden Flyers will take on Hartwick College Saturday before heading to UC on Sunday … Nazareth is led by Marisa Joyce who has four wins and five losses while Ami Petosa has registered five wins and three losses, together they have won four out of eight doubles matches.

Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will wrap up the Fall campaign against The Sage Colleges on Sunday Oct 18th for the final regular season match ... The competition is set for 4 p.m. in Troy, NY.
