UTICA, NY – Senior kicker
Thomas Woodburn (West Islip, NY/West Islip) of the Utica College football team became the first player in program history to earn Associated Press (AP) Little All-America team honors in a nationwide release by the AP on Thursday. Woodburn earned second team honors for his tremendous season and it marks his second All-America honor after earning American Football Coaches Association All-America honors last weekend.
The AP Little All-America team honors players from Division II, III and the NAIA. Woodburn was the only Division III kicker recognized among the three teams honored. The other two kickers honored were from Division II programs.
Woodburn, who has also earned the Empire 8 Conference Special Teams Player of the Year Award, led the team in scoring with 90 points from 22 of 26 field goals and 24 of 26 PAT's. He led Division III with 2.2 field goals per game this past season. His 22 field goals are second in Division III history and his 41 career field goals ranks 18th all-time in Division III. His 90 points tied for the program's season-high. Woodburn, a two-time all-conference pick, will graduate as the school's all-time leading scorer with 232 career points. This past season he was also named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week after his five field goal performance, including the game-tying and game-winning field goals against Brockport on Oct. 10
