UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's swim team improved to 5-3 this season after defeating Cazenovia College 110-14 on Saturday. The women's swim team fell to 2-7 after losing to Cazenovia 141-93.
The men's team was lead by
Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) who placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.59) and 100-yard freestyle (53.90) while finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.76). Freshman
Tim Tellekamp (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) had another big meet finishing first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.21) and the 50-yard freestyle (23.06).
Chris Halsey (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy) also had a first place finish in the 400-yard I.M. (4:49.90) while sophomore
Aaron Gudrian (Windsor, CT/Windsor) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.11).
The women's team was lead by Meagan Stanton who placed first in the 400-yard I.M. (5:42.75) and Alyson Baribault who placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:45.35) and second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.36) and 200-yard butterfly (2:46.02). Phoebe King placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:29.01) while Grace Gallentine had two second place finishes in the 500-yard (6:16.36) and 1,000-yard (12:57.42) freestyle.
The Pioneers are back in the pool on Friday January 15
th against Alfred. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
