UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's basketball team travels to Misericordia on Monday for a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: SUNY Canton defeated UC on Tuesday 79-58 … The Kangaroos jumped out to a huge 46-24 first half lead and used the fast start to hold off Utica … In the second half the Pioneers outscored Canton 34-33 but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit … Robert Tutein (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) and Carl Taylor (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) led the team with 10 points a piece.
 
Senior Leadership: Utica's two seniors have been leading the way for the team so far this season … Tutein is first on the team and 15^th in the Empire 8 Conference in points per game (14.7), and is seventh in the conference in 3-pointers per game (2.5) … Jawan Simmons (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) is second on the team with 8.8 points per game and leads the team and is 11^th in the conference with 38 total rebounds.
 
Sophomores Stepping Up: Carl Taylor (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) is third on the team with 8.3 points per game to go along with 24 rebounds, a team high 15 assists, two steals, and one block so for this season … Ivan Iton (Ossining, NY/Ossining) is averaging 6.8 points per game which is good enough for fifth on the team … Iton is tied for first on the team with five blocks, he is also second on the team with 34 rebounds, and he has seven assists and two steals.
 
Freshmen Focus: UC has four freshman averaging at least five points per game this season … Seamus McHugh (Latham, NY/Shaker) is fourth on the team with 7.5 points per game … McHugh has also added 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and three assists so far this season … Jonathan Wilson (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) and Devin Wilkerson (Germany/Apo Armed Forces-Europe) are tied for sixth on the team with 6.5 points per game … Wilson has added 14 rebounds, seven steals, four assists, and three blocks while Wilkerson has added 13 rebounds, three assists, and two steals … Stephen Gall (Bronx, NY/Benjamin Banneker) is eighth on the team with 5.6 points per game to go along with 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block.
 
Scouting Misericordia: The Cougars are 4-5 overall with a 1-1 MAC Freedom record … Misericordia is currently on a one game win streak and hold a 3-2 home record, 0-3 away record, and 1-0 neutral site record … The Cougars are lead by Jason Kenny who has a team high 15.0 points per game to go along with 32 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals, and two blocks … Griffin Sponaugle is second on the team in points per game (11.8) and has 31 assists, 25 rebounds, and seven steals.
 
Recently Against the Cougars: This is the first time that UC and Misericordia have met in men's basketball.
