ROCHESTER, NY – The Utica College baseball team had its three game win streak snapped Saturday after being swept by St. John Fisher, 4-1 and 15-8, at the Dugan Yard. UC was led by senior backstop
Thomas Dinnen (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas ) who went 4-for-8 with three RBI and two doubles.
The Pioneers fall to 11-5 overall while the Cardinals snapped a six game losing skid improving to 8-14 on the season.
The teams are back on the diamond Sunday for another twinbill at Dugan Yard. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
St. John Fisher 4, Utica 1 – Game One FinalFisher took an early 2-0 lead scoring one in the first and one in the second. The Cardinals used one hit and the help of one Utica error in each of the first two frames.
The Pioneers cut the lead to one, 2-1, in the top of the third on a two out fielding error from Fisher's right fielder, however could not convert any more scores as SJF took game one.
Fisher added another run in the fourth and fifth to take the game one victory, 4-1. Cardinal first baseman Scott Eisenmenger smacked his third homerun of the season in the fifth inning to cap the scoring.
Junior Stephen Lewis tossed a complete game for the home team allowing just one run and six hits while striking out four as he improved to 2-1 on the year.
Joshua Webb (Verona, NY/VVS) was tagged with the loss for UC as he worked six innings and struck out six evening his season mark at 2-2.

St. John Fisher 15, Utica 8 – Game Two FinalThe second game featured a combined 30 hits and 23 runs with 20 of those hits belonging to Fisher.
The home team opened up a 5-0 lead with two in the first and three in the third before UC got on the board. The Pioneers grabbed one run in the top of the fourth as Dinnen roped a double scoring Watson from first base.
The Cardinals continued their hot bats however scoring 10 more runs compared to one lone Utica score over the next four innings and commanded a 15-2 lead headed into the ninth.
UC would score six runs in the top of the ninth on just two hits before falling 15-8 in game two.
Matt Haddad (Frankfort, NY/T.R Proctor) walked with the bases loaded before a Fisher throwing error helped the Pioneers score two more runs.
Brandon Thomas (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) then singled in one run followed by a Dinnen double that drove in two before the rally ended.
Dinnen led UC going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles while Watson added two hits and two runs scored.
Stephen Szatko (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) threw 5.2 innings while giving up seven runs and fanning six in his first defeat of the year and falls to 4-1.
