UTICA, NY - 10 members from the class of 2015 earned Utica College senior student-athlete awards at the College's Pioneer Hall of Fame and Senior Athlete Recognition dinner on Wednesday night.  Senior's Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central), Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn), Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), Courtney Fitzgerald (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), Louie Educate (Chicago, IL/Aberdeen (NAHL)), Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius), Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills), Thomas Dinnen (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas ), Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and Jon Treen (Ilion, NY/Ilion) all earned Utica College student-athlete awards.

The student-athletes were honored at the senior recognition dinner in front of the Utica College community. Mackey and Jeffers were named the fourth annual recipients of the Jim "Doc" Spartano Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award while Stojkovski, Fitzgerald, Educate, and Nevins were named the 28^th annual Richard "Dick" Miller Most Inspirational Student-Athletes. Greenwald and Dinnen were winners of the second annual Greg Roberts Senior Athlete Award, while Kane and Treen were named the Kiwanis Student-Athletes of the Year. 

The Jim Spartano award, which is voted on by a panel of coaches and administrators, honors athletes who have fulfilled the educational goals of the Utica College Athletic Department to the highest degree. The educational goals include: teamwork, leadership, loyalty, perseverance and sportsmanship.  The award is named after Jim "Doc" Spartano, who retired in December 2011 after a 38-year career as a coach and Athletic Director at UC. He truly embodied the mission of the department by ensuring that a positive student experience remained paramount at all times, and his ability to connect with students, faculty and staff has undoubtedly left an impression on the College that will live on for years to come.

The Dick Miller Award, which has recognized 66 UC student-athletes since 1987, honors dedication to physical fitness, athletic competition and a commitment to excellence.  It is awarded annually to deserving male and female senior student-athletes who have exhibited excellence, determination, hard work and outstanding athletic achievement over the course of their time spent at Utica College.  The history of the Dick Miller Award, which is voted on by a panel of coaches and administrators, can be found in the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center trophy case. 

The Greg Roberts Senior Athlete Award is given out annually to a male and female student-athlete that best exemplifies what Greg Roberts stood for: hard work, unselfishness, loyalty, and passion for Utica College athletics. 

The Kiwanis Student-Athlete Award is given annually to the most outstanding male and female student-athletes based on performance in the classroom, community involvement and athletic accomplishments. A panel of coaches and administrators from vote and select the best suitable male and female.

Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central)- Field Hockey - Jim Spartano Award Winner

Mackey is a seven-time Utica College Dean's List honoree, has made the Empire 8 President's list three times, is a four-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association National All-Academic Team member and she was recently inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year in 2011 and the Empire 8 Player of the Year in 2014. She is a four-time Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection, as well as a three-time Empire 8 All-Tournament Team selection. She was the Empire 8 Tournament MVP in 2013 and holds the Empire 8 single season records for goals and points in a season. She is a two-time NFHCA All-Region and All-American selection as well as the 2014 NFHCA North Atlantic Player of the Year. Mackey is the College's all-time leader in career points (199) and goals (84), and she is second all-time in assists (31).  Her 3.81 points per game in a single season is tied for 14^th all-time in the NCAA Division III record book.

Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn)- Men's Basketball/Baseball - Jim Spartano Award Winner

Jeffers is just the third player in program history to register 1,000 points and collect 500 rebounds in his career. He is the 15^th player to score more than 1,000 career points, as he netted 1,024 points in his four years as a Pioneer. He is third all-time in rebounds (811), fifth all-time in games started (90), and sixth all-time in minutes played (2,775). Jeffers was also a standout pitcher on the baseball team. He totaled 61 strikeouts and held opponents to a .330 batting average in 31 appearances. 

Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse)- Field Hockey - Dick Miller Award Winner

Stojkovski was an ECAC All-Star in 2014, and the Empire 8 Tournament MVP in 2012. She was a three-time NFHCA All-Region selection, as well as a four-time All-Conference selection. She was a three-time Empire 8 All-Tournament team selection, and was a 2014 NFHCA All-American. She started 82-of-83 career games and is ranked third all-time at UC with 30 career assists. She is also fifth in program history with 96 career points.

Courtney Fitzgerald (Albany, NY/Colonie Central)- Softball - Dick Miller Award Winner

Fitzgerald is a two-time NFCA All-Region selection, as well as a four-time Empire 8 All-Conference honoree. She has a career batting average of .335 and is the College's all-time leader in home runs (25), doubles (45), RBIs (136), and total bases (286).  She is also the co-owner of the College's single-season home run record (10), and holds the single-season RBI record (44), both of which she accomplished as a sophomore.

Louie Educate (Chicago, IL/Aberdeen (NAHL))- Men's Hockey - Dick Miller Award Winner

Educate was the first player in program history to be named a First-Team Men's Hockey All-American. In the 2012-13 season he was the ECAC West Player of the Year as well as an American Hockey Coaches Association CCM First Team All-American. Educate was also a two-time ECAC West All-Conference selection. As a Pioneer he finished second all-time in game winning goals (8), second all-time in goals in a single season (18), fifth all-time in points in a single season (36), sixth all-time in career points (80), assists (44), and goals (36), and seventh in points per game (.99). He also helped guide the Pioneers to the NCAA Tournament's Frozen Four back in 2013.

Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius)- Men's Basketball - Dick Miller Award Winner

Nevins was the 2013 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year as well as a 14 Empire 8 All-Conference selection. As a Pioneer, he is first all-time in free throws made (323), second all-time in assists (408), third all-time in games started (98) and minutes played (3,094), fifth all-time in assists average (4.1 p/g), and he ranks seventh all-time in scoring (1,180 points).
 
Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills)- Women's Basketball - Greg Roberts Award Winner

Greenwald was a three-time Empire 8 President's List honoree, the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year (2013-14), and was selected to the Empire 8 All-Conference team in her senior season. She started 69-of-97 games in her career while totaling 726 points. She is fifth all-time in rebounds with 805.

Thomas Dinnen (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas )- Baseball- Greg Roberts Award Winner

Dinnen was a two-time Empire 8 All-Conference selection, including being named to the first-team in his senior campaign.  He was also recently named to the E8 All-Tournament team after going 6-for-12 in three games during the tournament hosted by the Pioneers.  In his career at UC he has played 121 career games, while compiling a batting average of .280, to go along with 56 RBIs, 46 runs, and five homeruns.

Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville)- Women's Lacrosse - Kiwanis Student-Athlete Award Winner

Kane was a six-time Empire 8 President's list member, as well as a four-time All-Conference selection. She was selected first team All-Region and was a two year captain for the Pioneers.  Kane is ranked second all-time in points (180), and third all-time in career goals (147) as a Pioneer.  Kane is also the program's all-time leader with 213 career ground balls and she set a new single season record with 73 ground balls as a senior. Her 169 career draw controls rank second all-time at Utica.

Jon Treen (Ilion, NY/Ilion)- Football - Kiwanis Student-Athlete Award Winner

Treen is a seven-time Utica College Dean's List honoree and earned Empire 8 Presidents List accolades five times. He was a two-time National Football Foundation - Central New York Chapter Scholar Athlete Award winner and was a team captain as a senior. This fall, he helped lead the Pioneers to a school-record seven wins as they earned a bid into an ECAC Postseason Bowl Game for the first time in program-history.  Treen also participated in the Senior All-Star game.
