ONEONTA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team had its shutout streak snapped Saturday as it fell to Johnson & Wales 4-1 in non-conference action at the Erinn K. Brozman Cup, hosted by Hartwick College. The Pioneers did not allow a goal in 229:30 minutes of action, marking the longest such streak since 2012, when UC opened the season with three straight shutouts.
Sophomore
Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) scored the lone goal for Utica as she converted a penalty kick in the 12
th minute to even the score at 1-1. Berkowitz now leads the Pioneers with four points, despite playing in just two games.
The Wildcats pulled away, netting two more scores in the first half and capping off the day with a tally in the 81
st minute to secure the victory. Johnson & Wales outshot Utica 14-9 on the day and held a 3-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Junior
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) made six stops in net in the loss as the Pioneers drop to 2-2 on the season. UC returns to action Sunday as it faces Elms College. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
