UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie Elms College 2-2 Sunday afternoon at the Erinn K. Brozman Cup, hosted by Hartwick College.
The Pioneers move to 2-2-1 on the season, while the Blazers move to 3-1-1. UC returns to action Wednesday as it hosts SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Blazers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of play before freshman
Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) netted her second goal of the season to bring the Pioneers within one. Classmate
Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) netted her second career tally in the 74
th minute to even the score. Despite a variety of chances by both teams in the extra 30 minutes, neither team could find the back of the net resulting in Utica's first tie of the season.
Utica outshot Elms 15-12 on the day, while the Blazers held a slight edge in corner kicks, 2-1. Junior
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) made four saves for UC, while Alexa Rinaudo stopped eight shots in net for Elms.
