UTICA, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team will host Plattsburgh State Friday (4 p.m.) at the Utica College Tennis Courts in the first of three consecutive matches … The Pioneers then hit the road for back-to-back Empire 8 matches as they head to Houghton on Saturday and Elmira on Sunday … Both matches are set for 1 p.m.

2015 CAMPAIGN:  UC is currently 0-2 overall on the season after losing to Ithaca College and Oswego State … The Pioneers dropped their season-opener to Ithaca, 9-0, before losing their home-opener to Oswego State this past Monday, 9-0 … Lu Lu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) leads the team in singles play with seven total points followed by Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) who has tallied five points thus far.

CARDINAL REPORT: Plattsburgh State presently holds a 1-3 overall record after recently dropping three straight at the SUNYAC Pool Play Tournament … The Cardinals lost to Oneonta, Cortland and New Paltz as they fell to 0-3 in league play … Plattsburgh's lone win came in its season-opener to Lyndon State College (VT) in shutout fashion.

HOUGHTON UP SUNDAY: HC opened up the season with three consecutive victories … The Highlanders beat Pitt-Bradford, 5-0, to open up their campaign and went on to beat St. John Fisher at home, 5-4, and Medaille on the road, 8-1 ... HC recently lost its first match of the season, 6-3, against Hartwick.

SCOUTING ELMIRA: The Soaring Eagles are currently 1-3 overall including a 0-2 mark in E8 play …. After losing to Hartwick and Stevens to open up its campaign, EC shutout D'Youville, 9-0, in its home-opener this past Sunday … Elmira then downed Daemen, 8-1, and will welcome Fisher on Friday before facing UC.

ONE DAY REST: Following the upcoming three-match stretch, Utica will have one day off and is right back on the courts Tuesday when it heads to Oneonta, NY to face Hartwick College in conference play … The match is set for 4 p.m. at the Hartwick Courts.
