Women's Soccer Gets Ready for Busy Weekend

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team looks to get back on track this weekend as it has two big games. The Pioneers will travel to Elmira College for an Empire 8 Conference matchup on Saturday (12 p.m.) before returning home on Sunday to take on Hamilton College (1 p.m.)
 
LAST TIME OUT: UC has lost its last two games and is looking to rebound this weekend… The Pioneers are coming off a 2-0 loss to Hartwick College on Tuesday.
 
FRESHMEN LEADING THE WAY: Freshmen Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) and Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) have been the top scorers for the Pioneers this season … Mazza leads the team and is tied for third in the conference with three goals... She is averaging .375 goals per game, which is good for seventh in the conference... Reilly is tied with sophomore Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) for second on the team with two goals.

ENDERS MOVING UP THE RANKS: Junior Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) needs just 13 more saves to move into a tie for fifth place on the College's career saves list… She has racked up 177 saves in just two seasons in the orange and blue… On the season, she has compiled a 1.73 goals against average and .765 save percentage. 
 
SCOUTING ELMIRA: The Soaring Eagles are off to a slow start this season, starting off 1-6… Niki Lempur leads Elmira with three points (one goal, one assist)… So far this season, as UC has outscored the Soaring Eagles 11 to 3.
 
RECENT YEARS AGAINST ELMIRA: The Pioneers last won against Elmira 3-2 in 2009… UC beat Elmira four games straight in a period between 2006-2009.
 
SCOUTING HAMILTON: The Continentals have started their season with an overall record of 0-4-1, including a 0-3-1 mark in the NESCAC… Hamilton has scored three goals as a team this season, off the feet of Hannah Withiam, Darby Philbrick, and Cassie Hayward.
 
HEAD TO HEAD AGAINST HAMILTON: The Pioneers have won just one game against Hamilton dating back to 2000… The last win against Hamilton was 1-0 in 2009... This season the Pioneers have scored 11 goals compared to three by the Continentals.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will remain at home Friday against Nazareth College for the College's Homecoming Weekend... Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
