ITHACA, NY- The Utica College women's tennis team dropped its season opener, 9-0, as it fell to defending Empire 8 Conference Champion, Ithaca College Saturday afternoon.
 
Utica managed to win eight games against the Bombers, scoring points in first singles (2-6, 0-6) by Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor), fourth singles (1-6, 0-6) by Gabriella Morreale (Utica, NY/T.R Proctor), fifth singles (1-6, 2-6) by Lu Lu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers), and sixth singles (1-6, 0-6) by Angelee Smith, as well as the second doubles (1-8) pair of Morreale and Anastasia Fitzpatrick (Parksville, NY/Liberty).
 
The Pioneers (0-1, 0-1 Empire 8) look to bounce back Wednesday as they travel to Troy, NY for a non-conference match up against Sage.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
