Utica, NY – The Utica College women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker to visiting Houghton College, 5-4, in Empire 8 Conference action at the Todd & Jen Hutton Sports & Recreation Center on Saturday.  Utica's Lulu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) came away with a victory in fifth singles and teamed up with Gabriella Morreale (Utica, NY/T.R Proctor) to earn a victory in third doubles. Zhang is now 6-3 overall this season at fifth singles and she also has a 4-5 record when partnering with Morreale at third doubles.

Utica's Anastasia Fitzpatrick (Parksville, NY/Liberty) won at fourth singles by set scores of 6-2, 6-4 over Houghton's Amy Brennfleck, while Shannon Fillmore (Somerset, NJ/Franklin ) got a victory at sixth singles (6-3, 6-3) over Danielle Bees. Fitzpatrick has a record of 4-5 at fourth singles this season, while Fillmore is now 4-4 at sixth singles for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers record moved to 3-7 overall on the season and they return to action on Sunday at home when they take on visiting Plattsburgh at 10 a.m.
