Utica, NY – The Utica College women's volleyball team wrapped up its final day at the Utica College Tournament with an Empire 8 Conference loss against Stevens Institute of Technology and a heartbreaking five game loss against Lasell College. UC junior
Andreana Kroup (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) and senior
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) earned All-Tournament Team honors for the Pioneers.
Blaszak, a senior, earned all-tournament team honors after posting 24 kills, two service aces, four digs and five blocks in four matches. Kroup, a junior, earned her first collegiate all-tournament team honor after posting 24 digs and five service aces over the course of the weekend.
Utica opened the day with a 3-0 loss against Stevens Institute of Technology. The Ducks won by game scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-10. UC capped its tournament with a tough 3-2 loss against Lasell. The Pioneers won the first two games 25-21 and 25-10, but dropped the final three games to the Lasers 25-17, 25-21 and 15-10.
Over the course of two games, sophomore
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) led the Pioneers with 14 kills, 17 assists, 12 digs, three service aces and two blocks. Blaszak chipped in with 12 kills, three blocks and three digs. Sophomore
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) added eight kills and three blocks.
Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) totaled 20 assists, while
Leah Octave (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall) added 22 digs.
Andreana Kroup (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) posted 19 digs and a team-best four service aces in two games.
Utica's record is now 5-17 overall and 0-4 in Empire 8 play. UC returns home on Tuesday when it hosts SUNY Poly for non-conference action at 7 p.m.
