Utica, NY – The Utica College volleyball team dropped a pair of contests against Farmingdale State and Potsdam State on day one of the Utica College Volleyball Tournament at the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium Friday afternoon. The Pioneers dropped their opener 3-0 against Farmingdale by the set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-19. Utica lost 3-0 to Potsdam in their second contest of the day (25-14, 25-11, 25-19).
Utica returns to the hardwood on Saturday morning when it takes on Empire 8 Conference opponent Stevens Institute of Technology at 10 a.m. The Pioneers will wrap up their weekend tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday when they square off against Lasell.
Utica sophomore
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) totaled a team-best 19 kills and also posted three blocks over the course of two games. Senior
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) combined for 12 kills and two blocks on the day, while
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) added 24 assists.
Paige Klock (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) chipped in with a team-high eight blocks in two games.
In game one against Farmingdale, Herringshaw led the way with nine kills and two blocks, while Blaszak added seven kills, one ace and one block.
Abigail Mosenthin (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) totaled three kills, while Voss posted 13 helpers.
Leah Octave (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall) led the Pioneers with five digs.
In game two against Potsdam, Herringshaw posted 10 kills and one block. Blaszak was second on the team with five kills and she also added one block. Klock posted four blocks, three kills and two digs while Voss had a team-best 11 assists.
