Ithaca, NY – Utica's volleyball team fell to Empire 8 opponents Ithaca and Houghton 3-0 today. The Pioneers now sits at record of 6-26 overall this season and have a conference record of 0-8.
Senior
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) led the team with a total of 12 kills on the day. She now has a team high of 228 so far this season.
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) both recorded nine kills in today's action.
Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) had the most assists with a total of 19.
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) added 15 assists of her own to go along with her 21 digs.
Andreana Kroup (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) had the most digs on the day with 25.
In the first match of the day Utica faced Ithaca College.
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded team highs of four kills and two blocks in the game.
Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) made seven assists to lead the team in the matchup.
Andreana Kroup (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) was able to tally 10 digs in the game as
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) added five of her own.
Next up for today's action for the Pioneers was Houghton College. Blaszak led the team in kills again with nine in the matchup.
Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) recorded 12 assists against the Highlanders while
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) was able to make 11 assists. Voss also tallied six kills and a team high of 16 digs in the matchup.
Andreana Kroup (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) racked up 15 digs while
Abigail Mosenthin (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) added 10 digs against Houghton.
Utica College women's volleyball will be heading to Houghton College next week for the Houghton Tournament. Over the weekend the Pioneers will face SUNY Cortland, Marywood University, Hiram College, and Keuka College. The team's first game is against Cortland starting at 4 p.m. on October 28
th.
