Utica, NY – Utica College women's soccer will host SUNY Canton on Saturday. At 12 p.m. the game will kickoff at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

PLAYING FOR COURTNEY WAGNER: The Pioneers will be dedicating Saturday's game to Courtney Wagner...  Courtney is freshman goalie Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy)'s older sister who passed away from brain cancer almost a year ago at the age of 18...  Courtney loved the game of soccer and her passion and love of the game never faltered throughout her four-year battle… Saturday's game is to promote cancer awareness and show support for all of those affected by cancer… The Pioneers will be wearing black armbands in remembrance of Courtney… The bands feature her initials (CW) and a gray ribbon on them as gray is the color for brain cancer awareness. 

LAST TIME OUT: Utica fell in its last contest as Brockport's strong second half handed the Pioneers a 4-1 loss... Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) scored her fourth goal of the season to tie the game up in the first half at 1-1... However, the Golden Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the second half to earn the win... Utica is now 1-10 overall and 1-3 on the season before entering Saturday's non-conference matchup against SUNY Canton.
 
LEADING THE OFFENSE: Sophomore Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) increases her lead for a team high in goals this season after the game at Brockport... She now leads the team with four goals and is first on the team with nine points. Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) is right behind her with eight points on the year with two goals and four assists.
 
IN THE NET: Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy), freshman goalkeeper, is currently leading the Empire 8 conference in total saves this season with 91... Her ten saves against Brockport last game marked her sixth game of the season where she made ten or more saves.
 
TAKING A LOOK AT CANTON: SUNY Canton has a 3-8-1 record overall this season and is 0-6 on the road... Canton suffered a 4-0 loss against Hartwick earlier this week. Senior Sydney Kinder's four goals, two assists and ten points lead the way for the team... Junior Kristina Dinardo is also a heavy contributor as she has recorded eight points on three goals and two assists... Canton's goalkeeper, freshman Allison Wakefield, has recorded 92 saves this year and allows 2.59 goals per game.
 
FIRST EVER MATCHUP: Saturday's game will be the first ever women's soccer matchup between Utica College and SUNY Canton in program history.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will travel on the road October 15^th as they take on Stevens Institute of Technology for an Empire 8 Conference competition.
