UTICA, NY- Junior
Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) made a career-high 21 saves, but it was not enough as the Utica College field hockey team fell to nationally ranked No. 11 Skidmore College 5-0 Thursday evening.
Â
The Thoroughbreds scored three goals in the first half and added two more tallies in the second stanza to claim their ninth win of the season. Five different players found the back of the net for Skidmore, led by Becca Halter and Seeley Fancher who each had one goal and one assist.
Â
21 saves in a single game ranks third all-time at UC, just one shy of the second place mark. Whitehouse has now ten or more saves in seven games this year. Her 128 saves this season rank fourth on the College's single-season list. Skidmore's Elizabeth Coughlin made two saves in the win.Â

The Pioneers look to bounce back Saturday as they travel to Empire 8 foe Nazareth College. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
