Utica, NY – This Saturday, Utica College women's tennis goes on the road to face Alfred University. This Empire 8 Conference matchup is set to start at 1 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Pioneers suffered a 8-1 loss at home on October 2
nd to Plattsburgh. 
Lulu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) earned the one point for Utica College, as she defeated Jacqueline Ciriello 6-2, 6-1 in fifth singles. Zhang is 7-3 in fifth singles after the team's last match and looks to build on that as the season is coming to a close.
 
A Glance at Alfred: The Saxons are 4-9 overall on the season with an in conference record of 2-5. Their last match up was against Houghton College as they lost 5-4. The team earned two points from doubles matches as well as two points in singles from Emmer Siemer and Nurila Kambar. Alfred University will have a match on Friday as they host Penn State-Behrend before closing out the regular season against Utica College.
 
Past Matchups: Utica College lost last years contest against Alfred University 8-1. 
Anastasia Fitzpatrick (Parksville, NY/Liberty) and 
Lulu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) we able to win the second doubles match to earn the team its one point. Zhang fought hard taking the third singles match to a third set against Kallie Clapper before falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-4. The Pioneers look to win their first matchup in program history against conference rival Alfred University.
 
Winding Down: After travelling to Alfred on Saturday, Utica College will have one more competition of the year. On October 15
th the Pioneers will host Sage, who is currently sitting at a record of 4-5 and is 3-1 on the road, to wrap up the regular season.
